Dear DISD District 1,

It would be an honor and a privilege to support the students, teachers, and families of DISD by sharing not only my lifelong passion for education, but my lifelong passion for teaching. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me, and I sincerely appreciate your support. 

 

While I have a background in education ( I have taught middle school and high school band and college math, and I am proud to hold a lifetime K-12 teacher's certificate in the state of Texas), I have also been a Software Engineer and I.T. Leader for 27 years. I want to be the Trustee who brings servant leadership to the school board.

Once I retired from formal teaching in 1997 and began my I.T. career, I continued demonstrating my passion for education: as a volunteer coach and judge for UIL Number Sense (DISD District 7's Kahn Elementary), as a volunteer with Junior Achievement teaching topics like Entrepreneurship and The Economy to elementary students at Irving ISD's Townsell Elementary, as SBDM President (DISD District 8's Spence TAG Academy), as author of the book "How to Make First Chair" (music education), as founder of a 501c3 charity for Music Education, as a volunteer teacher of financial literacy to the homeless for the charity Back on My Feet, and creator of educational videos such as a live-action version of a Schoolhouse Rock favorite that involved an entire elementary school art club (Irving ISD's Elliott Elementary).

Students and families deserve an active Trustee with a balanced background in education and business leadership.  Thank you for your support in the May 4, 2024 election to serve as Trustee for DISD.
